With the onset of spring, comes an onset of viral fever along with cold and cough. So, today I thought of sharing the recipe for the most easily digestible lentil/dal, which gets cooked within 5 minutes and provides you with a great source of proteins and energy to combat the flu and illness.

Ingredients (you will need):

Moong Dal - 1 cup
Salt, to taste
Red Chilli Powder, 1/2 tsp

Amchoor Powder/Khatai/Dried Mango Powder, 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds, 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida powder/Heeng powder, a pinch
Ghee/Clarified butter, 1 tablespoon

Cooking steps:

1. In a pressure cooker, heat the ghee.

2. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle/become aromatic.

3. Add asafoetide/hing powder and cook it for 5-10 seconds.

4. Add turmeric powder.

5. Add chili powder.

6. Add amchor powder.

7. Add washed dal to the pressure cooker.

8. Add water to cover the dal. Pressure cook the dal till 1 whistle. Switch off the flame and let the pressure release on its own.

9. Piping hot dal is ready to be served with fresh and hot rotis/flatbreads or rice.
