Eggless Chocolate Vanilla Cake - Zebra Cake Without Egg - Eggless Designer Cake

Winters bring in the chill and craving for eating something warm and sweet. And what is more appetizing and heart warming than a freshly baked cake, which encompasses two most basic flavors of vanilla as well as chocolate. So, read on if you want to learn how to make this delicious designer cake...


Ingredients (You will need):

For the vanilla cake:
Plain flour/Maida, 1 cup
Refined oil, 1/4 cup
Plain Yogurt/Dahi, 3/4 cup
Powdered Sugar, 1/2 cup
Vanilla Essence, 1 tsp
Baking powder, 1/2 tsp
Baking soda, 1/4 tsp
Salt, a pinch
Water, 1/4 cup

For the Chocolate cake:
Plain flour/Maida, 1 cups
Refined oil, 1/4 cup
Powdered Sugar, 3/4 cup
Vanilla Essence, 1 tsp
Baking powder, 1/2 tsp
Baking soda, 1/4 tsp
Salt, a pinch
Water, 3/4 cup
Lemon Juice, 2 tsp
Coco Powder, 1/4 cup

Cooking Steps:
1. Begin by greasing and lining the cake tin/pan with a parchment paper. Simultaneously, preheat the oven at 200 degrees celsius for 1/2 and hour.

2. Combine the dry and wet ingredients for vanilla cake and keep aside.

3. Similarly, combine the wet and dry ingredients of the chocolate cake and keep aside. Just make sure that both the cake batters have similar dropping consistency.

4. Now comes the designing part. In the greased and lined pan, pour 2 tbsp of vanilla cake batter in the center of the pan. Follow it up with 2 tbsp of chocolate cake batter. Repeat the steps.

5. You should start to see alternate color ring formation in the pan. Those of you, who do marble nail art would appreciate this step.

6. Once both the batters are finished you should get something like this. Make sure that you do not move the pan during this entire process.

7. Now, comes the interesting part. Using a toothpick drag the cake from the corner of the pan to the center. Keep doing it, while keeping a distance of 1-2 inches from the previously drawn line. Your cake should look as shown in the picture below.

8. Place the cake gently into the oven and bake for 30 minutes/ till a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.

9. The cut slices of the cake would look something like this, with alternate patterns of vanilla and chocolate. And believe me it tastes delicious as you get two different flavors in a single cake.
