Lady Finger with GramFlour - Besani Bhindi Recipe

Hello foodies,

Today I am sharing a lip smacking recipe of bhindi/okra/ladyfinger with you all. As a kid I used to love eating bhindi and I find that my child is no less in his love for the same. Apart from being rich source of vitamin B, bhindi has very good quantities of calcium for a vegetable. So, today I am going to prepare this recipe with a twist and make it more flavorful so that not only kids but adults of the family can also enjoy.

Ingredients (you will need):

Okra/Bhindi/Ladyfinger, chopped - 200 grams
Besan/Chickpea flour, 1 tablespoon
Salt, to taste
Red Chilli Powder, 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder, a pinch
Coriander Powder, 1 tsp
Amchoor Powder/Khatai/Dried Mango Powder, 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala Powder, 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds, 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida powder/Heeng powder, a pinch
Refined Oil, 1 tablespoon

Cooking steps:

1. In a pan heat some refined oil. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida powder and let them get fragrant.

2. Add the cut bhindi/okra to the pan and toss lightly.

3. Add rest of the spices, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well so that the spices coat the bhindi pieces well.

4. Add besan/chickpea flour at this stage.

5. Mix well to coat the bhindi well.

6. Cover the pan and cook the bhindi for 5 minutes.

7. Check if the bhindi is tender and switch off the flame. If not you can cook the bhindi in the intervals of 2 minutes each till the bhindi is soft and tender. Add garam masala and give the veggies a mix.

8. Besani bhindi is ready, you can relish it with paranthas/pooris/rice.

Hope you like this recipe, do let me know how it turned out for you!

Bon Appetit!
