Jeera Rice - Cumin Rice Recipe

Hello foodies,

Summer heat means wanting to spend less and less time in the kitchen, but wanting to eat something special as well. So, why not spruce up one dish (at a time) on the table and make the whole meal look more special and delicious at the same time. So today, I am sharing a very simple jeera rice/cumin rice recipe with you all, which takes the meal experience to the next level.

Ingredients (you will need):

Basmati rice - 1 cup
Salt, to taste
Cumin seeds, 1 tbsp
Ghee/Clarified butter, 1 tablespoon
Water, 2 cups

Cooking steps:

1. Wash and soak the rice of your choice for atleast an hour before cooking. I have used basmati rice but you can choose any rice as per your preference.

2. In a pan, heat ghee.

3. Add cumin seeds and let them turn fragrant. Be careful, so as to not burn the cumin seeds.

4. Add the soaked and drained rice along with 2 cups of water. Add salt as per your taste. Cover the pan and cook the rice on a low flame. Stir once or twice but not too much as the rice could get mushy. Cook till all the water has been absorbed by the rice, it should take approximately 10-15 minutes.

5. Delicious jeera rice is ready! Serve hot with dal of your choice.

Hope you like this recipe, do let me know how the jeera rice turned out for you!

Bon Appetit!
