Holi 2018: Matar Paneer - Cottage Cheese and Peas Recipe

Hello foodies,

Today I am sharing a very festive recipe of Matar Paneer, which is generally prepared whenever we feel like eating special/there is a special occasion. Today I am sharing a homemade version of this recipe for all of you to enjoy during this festive season. The ingredients are very simple and the taste immense. Hope you all like the recipe..





Ingredients (you will need):

Fresh Green Peas, 100 grams
Cottage Cheese/Paneer, 100 grams
Tomatoes, 2
Tomato Puree, 1 tbsp
Salt, to taste
Red Chilli Powder, 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder, 1/2 tsp
Amchoor Powder/Khatai/Dried Mango Powder, 1 tsp
Coriander Powder, 1 tbsp
Dried Fenugreek leaves/Kasuri Methi, 1 tsp
Ghee/clarified Butter, 1 tablespoon
Water, as required

Cooking steps:
1. Wash the vegetable. Cut cottage cheese/paneer into cubes and fry lightly. Next chop the tomatoes and blend them into a puree in a mixer/grinder.

2. In a kadai/pan heat some ghee and add cumin seeds, turmeric powder, and red chilli powder. Let the spices saute for 15 seconds making sure so as not to burn them.

3. Add the pureed tomatoes along with coriander powder and tomato puree. Stir everything together and cook for a minute or two.

4. Add the washed peas.

5. Add a cup of water and cover the peas till they are cooked. Keep checking after every 5 minutes or so.

6. Once the peas are cooked add salt, crushed dry fenugreek leaves, and paneer cubes to the pan. Stir well.

7. Lastly add garam masala and amchoor powder. Stir well and adjust the consistency of the gravy as per your desire.

8. Serve hot with pooris/paranthas/chapati of your choice.
